The general specific

A plain ol' photo of an outfit I wore a few days ago to run errands and whatnot. I found this cute little '90s dress  and immediately I was drawn to the colors. Usually when I find dresses from the '90s the colors are kind of weird, either lots of pinks or just too blah for my taste but this dress had shots of mustard yellow tempered by the sage and ivory blossoms/ foliage, which I really like!

What I don't like, however, is the empire waist which is weird since I usually like that cut but not this time. To combat that, I used a belt and made believe the waist was normal. However, the scalloped neckline is a great touch, I love that little detail.

  9. I have the same trouble with 90s prints! This one is absolutely gorgeous and the scalloping is perfection! Looking great :)

I feel a bit easier about belting my dresses seeing you belt a couple of inches below the dress-waist too. When I looked at it in the mirror the other day I thought "oh dear - clownish" but seeing it on you I realize I was being an idiot. Looks lovely!

  10. It looks really cute the way you styled it! Yeah, I actually remember a lot of baby-doll type dresses from the 90s having empire waists that were not flattering on me...waistlines weren't high enough or low enough? I don't know, just weird. But the belt trick works on this.
