Outfit Details:
Floral dress with accordion pleat skirt and lace collar (altered): thrifted
Coral and oatmeal striped socks: Target
Leather lace up boots: thrifted

When I spotted this dress on the rack it was a size XL, had heinous shoulder pads, 3/4 length sleeves, and was about 4 inches too long. Frump city, if you ask me. BUT it had many redeeming qualities such as a sweet mustard-y floral print, lace peter pan collar (!!!), and really crisp accordion pleats so I knew it had  potential. A few easy snips and some simple stitching courtesy of my grandma is all that this dress needed to get it into wearable shape. A perfect Fall dress, no?

And can we talk about these socks?! They have these at Target right now and the color combination is so nice. They're also really warm and great quality (not the cheapo thin socks by xhileration or whatever) anyway, I recommend them.

And for kicks, a photo of a bowl of vegan butternut squash soup I had the other day at Freesoulcaffe in Tustin. Deeelicious!

  3. Yes, yes, that dress, those boots! I desperately need some alternating skills, seeing as almost everything at my Goodwill is like XL-XXL, basically mammoth in size, compared to me. I have this thrifted dress with the most amazing pattern/print, but it's quite huge ...

Anyway, you look gorgeous in this dress, the colors suit you so well, and I love the print and peter pan collar, of course!

    Thanks for the lovely comment.

  5. Have mercy on me and do not show such autumnal dress - light, with small flowers. :)
The real autumn is here. Just begun. It's cold, rainy and windy. This is the beginning and I already miss the sun and heat.
I have to forget about dresses. It's time for warm sweaters, socks and hats . I do not like this

  15. i always see dresses like that but they look a bit oversized when I put them on..never really sure if lopping off a few inches will be enough to fix it and I'm never sure if the drop waist is inded or not lol

  19. I need a sewing grandma! I see those frump dresses and just know I don't have the wherewithall or the sewing machine to fix them up. The colour is great for fall, and I love how this whole style looks with your hair!

  22. Oh wow, what an adorable dress! I love seeing potential in thrift store dresses and then with a matter of snips, it's totally wearable. I love that you paired yours with boots and socks, too : )

  23. way to go with the dress it looks great, it's a great skill to have foresight and can envision the potential in a dress with a great print and cut but need some snips. and that bowl of soup looks yummy.
