A Belgian waffle sandwich from Bruxie! At first I was kind of whatever about this place but I've quickly changed my tune. The above is the prosciutto, gruyere, chive, and mustard sandwich...so good. I also recommend: the breakfast sandwich and the  roasted mushroom and goat cheese. As for sweets, I like the strawberry cheesecake bruxie and the nutella and bananas. They also have really good gourmet sodas here and ice cream!  If you're ever in Orange, Orange County...go here!

And now for some random thoughts swimming through my head:

  • I bought some foam hair rollers at Target a half hour ago and I'm going to try to curl my hair. Pathetically, my hair doesn't hold a a curl very well. Maybe my shorter hair will help?
  • "Miss Misery" has been stuck in my head for a long time. Elliott Smith is the soundtrack to my Falls/Winters every year. Anyone else listen to certain artists during different parts of the year?
  • Discovered Get Off My Internets and I can't stop reading. It's pretty snarky but I kind of agree with half of the things they post about...even if I'm not familiar with many of the bloggers they bash.
  • Thinking of investing in a drill and or staple gun. Although I don't really know how to do this, I would love to learn how to do simple reupholstery and refinishing of old furniture.
  • Long figernails make me shudder. I keep mine really short and when I notice that they're "long" (meaning that the nails starts to go just above my finger tips) I flip out. I don't bite my nails but If I'm not near a pair of nail clippers I will bite them to get them short again. Just thinking about long nails makes my skin crawl!Blejgrhbdjhb!

  2. I always enjoy your 'random' photo roundups, especially when they include pictures of food and vintage goodies! I'm drooling after reading about the Belgian waffle place, never would have thought to make a savory sandwich with them but it sounds amazing. As for curling your hair I've heard good things about hot sticks and also good old fashioned rag curls.

  3. AWW adorable kitty!!!
Yea, I like short nails too, but sometimes I do let them get a bit long, it doesn't disgust me, I just prefer short. But if people have super long nasty nails then I get grossed out ;)

  6. I wish there was a Bruxie nearby (YUM), and I also just discovered GOMI too. It's interesting but I can only read so many comments before I start getting seriously depressed. Especially about some of the mommy blogs. Blerg.

  7. yes, GOMI is snarky. Funny and often right though! I don't know if you follow rebekah of my little loves, but she wrote a pretty superb post about GOMI and "mean girl bloggers"... I think you should go read it. May be a few days old in her archives.
Ps. Used to live in irvine. :) we should plan a meet up, thrift day! And...I want that yum mug. Want!!

  9. My hair does not hold a curl either, I would say use a lot of hair spray that helps, I really like the bead head brand because it does not stink and holds well. You should get a drill it's really not hard to use and the possibilities are endless when you have one :)

  10. So sweet that Grant is a cat lover. That samich looks delicious. Good luck curling your hair. My friend has very straight hair like yours and she uses the rollers that you have to heat up. They work for her. Since your using non heated rollers, if possible I think the longer you leave them in the better. just checked out that site and could not stop reading it.

  12. I love your photographic eye and the details you find worth capturing!!! Also, Grant is so dapper, :) And that sammy looks bomb ass diggity!! I think there is a similar waffle shop here in Pitt I must try out - anything with melty cheese and crispy sweets I'm thurr...

And my hair is the same! I find sleeping over night in a wet braid gives me some curl, but your foamy things will work too!! Hairspray! And apply mousse before to give it staying power!

Elliot Smith goodness gracious!! I completely agree with his music being perfect for Fall/Winter. I love ox! And Bon Iver is perfect for chilly mornings, and some instrumental jazz...

<3 Enjoy the rest of fall, love!

  13. I keep my nails short, too. Long nails just don't work for me! And I recently discovered GOMI too - it raises some interesting points!

  14. My music choices also change with the seasons. I usually go with oldies/classic rock in spring, trance/house/electronic in summer, heavy metal/industrial/goth for fall and winter. I can't explain it. It's not exclusive, of course, because I love music of all kinds, but I find myself drawn to those specific types more in those respective seasons than I do at other times of the year.

Also, I couldn't live without my staple gun. I use it for everything. It's a great investment.

This is totally random and may actually make me sound crazy, but I promise I'm not...anyway, you know how you feel when you see long fingernails? That's how I feel about the word 'yum'. I hate it. It bugs me. I actually kind of jumped a little when I saw the picture of the yum cup, and then had to scroll past it as fast as I could. Inexplicable, but true.

  15. @ Amanda: I can deal with seeing the written word "yum" BUT when someone either writes out 1. "yummy" or SAYS "yum" or "yummy" it makes me shudder too!! I always roll my eyes when people describe food as being "soo yummy!!!!!" blegh!! I'm glad we agree on this ;-)

  16. me too! most of the time people just think I'm weird and then start saying it when I'm around just to annoy me.

  17. try putting less hair in each curler and spraying it with some curl holding spray before rolling it? If youre gonna get into reupholstery you should check out the cheap staple guns and drills at the swap meet first!

  18. ha! i just discovered GOMI too. and ironically through another person's blog post that was complaining about negativity on the internet. i got a kick out of GOMI, so i guess that makes me a bad person... i can live with that. since we're talking pet peeves, mine is when people write like they're from somewhere else. random example: someone from England using "dude" "awesome" and "rad." i know because of the internet the culture today is international, but it would be like me calling you "mate" or "bloke" (or whatever chicks call each other over there.) i'm from california for christsakes, it just would be unauthentic.

  19. Is that Neil Young on vinyl I see? Good taste, missy! There's nothing better!

  21. Windham Hill's "Winter Solstice" album is my #1 musical score for autumn and winter. Maybe it's the cover art...perhaps initially. Now it's a part of me.

  22. So many things I agree with here. 1. was just discussing Elliott Smith last night with my friend...I told her how Elliott Smith IS November music. Always and forever. 2. Long fingernails are absolutely disgusting and I do the same thing if I notice one is long and I don't have a nail clippers, and I am definitely not a nail biter...

  23. Kings of Convenience is my usual fall/winter artist. A little Lana Del Rey here and there this year. Elliot Smith's Either/Or was my 2009 fall album<3. First time reading your blog, found my way throught tumblr. I love it! Take care!

  24. if your hair doesn't hold a curl, try hairspraying it before rolling it, and then once their out and then once your style is set. i like tressemme, because it's light and doesn't crunchify as much. you can adjust it.
now i can't stop reading GOMI.
