A few new items at the shop this week! I've been trying really hard to make this shop into something that I can be proud of and so far I'd say it's coming along nicely. I see my store as being a tightly curated collection of vintage. Every piece is hand picked by yours truly. There are a lot of times that I go shopping for the store and walk away with nothing even though there are "vintage" pieces to be had. Personally, If I don't think the piece is cute or wearable then it's not going into the shop. Moreover, If I think the piece of clothing in question is too common and any old schmuck can find it at the thrift store then I wont buy it. I do it because 1. it takes away from the other pieces I have in the store  and 2. I wont insult you by trying to mark up something that can EASILY be found at a thrift store for $1.99. That's like my #1 pet peeve on Etsy. I browse and buy for myself on there and there have been so many times that I have stumbled upon a shop selling fug 1980s polyester dresses (massive shoulder pads and awkward proportions intact) for like $40 or circa 1995 Faded Glory/ Old Navy t-shirts for anything more than $5. WUT?

I try to keep my customer in mind at all times. Pricing items fairly is a priority for me. I've mentioned it before but normally I do a search for what I have and price accordingly. Pieces that are on the higher end at the shop are priced that way only if I know them to be exceptionally high in quality (dead stock, NOS) or super unique.

Lastly, I'm a big believer in the power of packaging. I'm someone who will buy from a certain website if I know that I will receive fun little extras (cough Sephora cough) or if there is SOME attempt at thoughtful packaging. If I have a bunch of orders to mail it might take me an hour and a half or more  (instead of like 20 minutes) to assemble all of the orders because I take care to include a note, some sweet vintage extras (postcards and travel ephemera being my favorites to include) and a coupon. That's right, buy from me once and you'll have access to a coupon code that's good 'til forever ;-)

And of course I try to ship next day or two day at the latest since I also hate waiting for packages.

Longish spiel but what I'm trying to say here is that I truly love selling vintage clothing to people all over the world and I hope that those of you who read the blog might take the plunge and order something from me one of these days. You can be sure that I've got your back covered in more ways than one.

  1. So many great new pieces!! And I agree, I love when stores take time to do extra things. If I ever had a store I would do that as well.

  2. I really appreciate your store and the thought that you obviously put into it. I have only ordered once but was thoroughly happy with the experience. I am a college student!—I would order more often if I could!

But I have the same pet peeves with etsy. I thrift quite often and hate when I see super common items listed in people's stores. People just don't give curation enough credit nowadays. I feel like people think it's easier to put on a forever21-like mindset, in which they think if they stock MORE, and MANY styles, someone will be able to find something they like. But it's so exhausting!

So anyways, hats off to you.

  3. I love this post and really can relate! If I know I really want to keep it for myself, that's when I especially know I have something great for the shop! I just recently got new business cards, stickers, and thank you note because I was making every single thing by hand & it would take me a good 45 minutes to package one thing! I really think its the details and the special touches that makes it & am so happy there sellers like you- you're shop is SO beautifully curated!

  4. yeah i always look for things that are vintage but still fashion forward, wearable. i hate when shops sell things that are old and dated, and no one in their right minds would actually wear that.

  5. I love that you posted this. There are too many vintage stores on Etsy that i feel like are just hocking any old thrift store crap because its 'vintage' - and pricing it too high. Its too easy to just go into a thrift store and pick up any old crap, and hock it on the Etsy these days. I like stores like yours - you can see immediately that there is a certain style, a certain look you have in mind. You can tell that you have hand picked each piece, rather then just bought a job lot on ebay or whatever.

To be fair, there are some vintage stores here in London that feel exactly the same - and its what sets the good ones from the bad. I'd rather share my hard earned pennies with someone who puts in a bit more time and effort.

    Keep it comin!

*Had to turn word verification on (even though I personally hate it). I've been getting too many weird spambot comments lately :(
