Outfit Details:
vintage trucker hat: borrowed from Grant
striped shirt: thrift store
AG jeans: Sale, Anthropologie
Dinosaur socks (!!!): Target
Keds

Finally getting around to posting photos from a quick trip Grant and I took last week up the coast for a little R&R. This was my travelin' outfit. Sitting in a car for more than 3 hours means I'm going to be wearing jeans and a t-shirt. And remember trucker hats? I vividly remember waltzing into a Hot Topic circa 2001 and buying one that said "Dork" on it. Yeah. Speaking of Hot Topic, I passed by one the other day and when did they get so "kid friendly"? I remember their whole schtick was being xEdGyxALteRnAtIveX and literally the Hot Topic I would frequent when I was in middle school had a store front that pretty much  looked like the mouth of hell. You had to enter a black cave with pointy fangs/ stalactites coming from the ceiling.

Now they sell Justin Beiber t-shirts.

  1. haha i know EXACTLY what you mean about the hot topics. we used to have one at our mall but they got rid of it because it wasn't getting enough business i guess. but 5ish years ago it was literally a scary place hah.

i love that second photo of you!

  2. I love that you can publicly admit that you shopped at Hot Topic in your younger years (I personally keep it on the dl for fear of being shunned). That shit was like SO EDGY and cool when I went there as a teen. And they did look like the mouth of hell !

  6. I've never been to a Hot Topic; I don't think we have one in DC. Is that like a suburban mall-type store? Also, this outfit is pretty much what I wear whenever I travel...planes, trains, and automobiles...well, minus the hat. This post reminds me, I wanted to ask you since you have skinny legs like me, do you ever find skinny jeans like super duper uncomfortable pressing on your knees when you walk? Seriously, if they don't have major stretch I end up doing some type of tin man walk because it hurts to bend my knees. I've returned so many pairs because of this issue. I don't know, maybe I just have sensitive knees. Anyway, I was just wondering if this happens to you and if so, if you know a brand that doesn't do this. xo

    1. Heyy! I'm definitely in the jean camp of "the more stretch the better" just because I think true denim is uncomfortable to wear...period! While I don't have the same knee issues as you I will say that the brand that I am wearing in this post (AG, Adriano Goldschmied) is amazing--and this is coming from someone who was a die hard Levi's fan for ages and ages. ANYWAY, I own two pairs and they are literally the most comfortable pants in existence. Thin and stretchy. The pair that I'm wearing in this photo are what I call my pajama pants because they are just so light weight, stretchy, and great. They can be kind of pricey but Anthropologie often has then on sale (which is where I've purchased both pairs). I've paid $40-60 and they retail for $100+. So yes, long story short, check the Anthro sales section or Ebay, I think you'd really like them! :)

  9. I remember all the "goth" kids got all upset at my school when Hot Topic got a little less scary. I love the simplicity of this outfit! Last time I traveled I wore leggings as pants, yikes.

  10. Sweet socks. Yea, I remember how dark and cavernous Hot Topic was back in the day.

  11. Only you could make a t-shirt and trucker hat seem incredibly stylish. And I completely know what you mean about Hot Topic, now there's just Twilight everywhere. So weird.

  12. Great outfit! The dinosaur socks are fantastic! My favorite episode of South Park is the one where the goth kids burn down Hot Topic!

  17. You could probably pass for 14 in this outfit!!!! You are so cute.

Hot Topic was a no-no place where people didn't like going there when I was a kid. That was when it was completely gothic instead of filled with punk and rave and skater stuff. I shopped there and people would always call it the Satanic shop, even though there were some nice stuff and I am a Christian. I boycotted it in 2001 because it became a cool popular place. long story. I really only bought rings and necklaces and long white gothic dresses from there. I was 16/17 in 2001. . am I old?
